Mirror finish sheet is also named mirror-polished stainless steel sheet, which is processed with a non-directional and high-gloss polished #8 finish to remove the scratches, grooves, or dents on the surface, which can make it like a super reflective mirror, and it doesn't need any finishing or coating material to assist the process.

Q1. What is a mirror stainless steel plate?
A1:Definition: Stainless steel plates with mirror effects after polishing are professionally called "8K plates". They are divided into three grades: 6K (ordinary polishing), 8K (fine grinding), and 10K (super fine grinding). The higher the value, the better the brightness.
Material: Commonly used 304 and 316 stainless steel (strong corrosion resistance), 201, 301, etc., the base material needs to use 2B/BA surface (smooth surface without defects) to ensure the mirror effect.
Q2. What are the size specifications of mirror stainless steel plates?
A2:Conventional size:
Thickness 0.5-3mm:width 1m/1.2m/1.5m, length 2m-4.5m;
Thickness 3-14mm: width 1.5m-2m, length 3m-6m5.
Extreme size: Maximum width can reach 2m, length can reach 8-12m (limited by processing equipment, the cost and risk of super long plates are higher).
Q3. What are the key processes of mirror processing?
A3:Process:
Sandblast the substrate to remove the oxide layer;
Grind with 8 sets of coarse and fine grinding heads (coarse sandpaper determines brightness, fine felt controls grinding head flower);
Wash → dry → apply protective film.
Quality points: The slower the travel speed and the more grinding groups, the better the mirror effect; surface defects of the substrate (such as sand holes) will directly affect the quality of the finished product.
Q4. How to deal with surface scratches?
A4:Minor scratches: Manual polishing and repair with polishing wax (mirror surface), or repair with a wire
drawing machine (wire drawing surface).
Deep scratches:
Point scratches: TIG welding repair welding → grinding → re-polishing
Linear/large area scratches: Need to return to the factory to lower the grinding head and reduce the speed of grinding. Deep scratches may not be completely repaired
Preventive measures: Apply 7C thickened protective film, and use wooden frames + waterproof paper to pack during transportation to avoid contact with hard objects.
Q5. Why may the corrosion resistance of mirror stainless steel be reduced?
A5:Chloride ion corrosion:
destroys the passivation film, avoid contact with chlorine-containing environments (such as swimming pools, salt spray environments), and clean regularly.
Insufficient surface cleanliness: residual acid or stains will accelerate corrosion, and thorough cleaning and passivation are required after processing.
Material factors:
low nickel (such as 201) or martensitic structure stainless steel has weak passivation performance, and 304/316 materials are recommended.
Q6. How to inspect the quality of mirror stainless steel plates?
A6:Visual inspection: tear off the four corners of the protective film and check whether there are sand holes (pinholes), grinding head flowers (hair-like lines), and peeling (white lines).
Thickness tolerance: allowable error ±0.01mm (1 wire), exceeding the tolerance may be inferior products. Film layer requirements:
high-quality boards with 7C or above thickened laser film to prevent transportation scratches.
